Welcome to Island Roots Therapy!
Life can take us on many adventures. It is often on these adventures that we learn about who we are, what our values are, the significance of connection with others, and what is truly important in life.
Growing up in rural Prince Edward Island, I did not fully appreciate the idea of connection, both with the people and the gorgeous scenery around me. I wanted to get away and see the “real world”. My adventures took me to many places in the Maritimes, including Fredericton, New Brunswick; Bathurst, New Brunswick; Downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia, and now living the suburban life in Nova Scotia.
What I realize now is that instead of running from my roots, I want to embrace them. Islanders are hard working and fun loving, with an appreciation for a slower pace and approach to life. Islanders are story tellers, musicians, artists, and entrepreneurs. They are resilient when times get tough and endure through hardship. It is with deep gratitude and pride that I call myself an Islander.
I also owe so much to Nova Scotia, with its coastal beauty along the South Shore, the agricultural abundance of the Annapolis Valley, the incredible scenery and calming pace of Cape Breton, the resilience of South Western Nova Scotia, and the creativity of the North Shore. It is my home away from home and is it any wonder? It is easy to see the symmetry between these two provinces.
The goal for Island Roots Therapy is two-fold: to bring connection to those who need it in a way that is meaningful to them while offering gratitude and thanks to the provinces who have supported my own path. You are the expert of your own life; I am simply here to join you in your journey.
